Help the economy

If you got it, spend it. Our economy needs help. More and more layoffs are taking place as we speak. All of us that have a few bucks can help keep someone else employed.

This weekend, spend some money. Go out to the movies, get some dinner, buy a drink or two. go buy some new clothes. Get your oil changed. Send your spouse flowers. Buy something that you want.

If all of us spend a little bit, it will help a whole lot.

Problem is, that if we spend, the people (or companies) receiving the money need to spend it as well. There are some that are moving money abroad to think it's safer. /shrug

Good point. We don't need a huge government "recovery" plan, we just need to let the cycle turn on its own. Our grandchildren will thank us for it.

I agree.    You said it all.

What you say makes sense but it belies the problem with our economy. If our economy is based on consumption than it only can survive when we buy things. It used to be based on production. Our economy survived because we built things. We can't buy forever, so something MUST change.

I do agree that we should spend what we have because the dollar that you have now won't be worth much in the future, but that shovel that you bought will still be a shovel.

CF you are correct about our need to produce something. Buying things does help in the short run however. We also need to start saving money.

Good idea. We have to convince everybody to do it though then it will become a huge marketing problem. I do not think spending oversea is a problem. The problem is we do not want that money to be owned by some people like Madoff.

Okay...

I did my part. The day after Christmas I hit the sales and replaced my entire wardrobe. Not only did I help the economy I dropped my old wardrobe off at our local Salvation Army thrift store. At some point in every woman's life she must come to terms with the fact that those hip hugging jeans look a lot better on her 12 Grand Daughter :)
