Emotional IQ

All of the liberals are very proud of themselves. They voted for a black man. Some of them even talk of having tears in their eyes. They are so happy that a man from a race that was beat down and held down, has won their stamp of approval.

I truly hope that they did not vote for the guy simply because he was black. That would be racism. I hope that they did not vote for the guy because he was held down. That would be the sympathy vote. I really hope that they did not vote for him because of some type of guilt. That would be ridiculous.

I am a not black. I am not white. I do not vote for skin color. My IQ is a bit higher than that. My race has been held down. Some of my race have escaped the holding down thereof. No sympathy needed. My family 4 generations ago probably committed some type of crime against another, but I will not feel guilty for it, nor will I be held guilty by others. I was not even born yet. How stupid to be ruled by those emotions.

If the libs want to get all emotional, and sing Kumbya because a black man won, that is their right. But, the rest of us are not going to suddenly start thinking that wealth redistribution and the killing of babies in the womb are OK. Conservatives are not going to say "gee lets forget about the Consitution that has made the US the greatest country on Earth for 200 years because a lib won". We are not going to get all excited about fulfilling the lib version of Patriotism- paying higher taxes.

You libs can call us all sorts of names. Why not, you always do. You can get all teary eyed for your candidate. You can reminisce about FDR and LBJ. You can "tax us to hell and back". You can outlaw religion, take our guns, take our hard earned money, and our businesses. You can destroy the gas and coal industries like BO has pledged to do. You cannot take conservatism from us. And you know it.

You know it because our ideas are based upon grown up logical thinking. And you know that yours are based upon childish emotion. The type that makes you vote based on what color a person is.

Hi Kevin,

Why do people only see Obama as a black man and not an intellectual?  He's half black and half white, and has an IQ much larger than Bush & McCain ever had.  Don't get me wrong but, both Bush & McCain are nice guys, but are very limited on what they can do for our country.

There is nothing wrong with having an intelligent liberal or moderate President, Vice President and both of their spouses.  If anything, it might actually turn this country around and become much more accepting of others.  What would be wrong with that???

Having a future country that doesn't just say they are Democratic, but actually do the right thing on a daily basis for ALL AMERICANS, and not just the previleged few.

I believe this election made many politicians realize that it's not a free ride, and that they are people out there that are smart enough to get them out if they are not doing the right job for OUR COUNTRY...  After all 8 Million more people voted yesterday than in 2004.  That's a message the politicians can't help but listen to....

The Iraqi's are not the privileged few. Lowering every American's income taxes did not just effect the PF. The 10% bracket is not the PF. "No child left behind" was not for the PF.

I do not know any of their IQ's but you seem to. My point is that libs use emotion in their decision making.

You say a moderate Prez is good, what is wrong with that. What about a conservative? Do you not like that idea, but we must like a moderate or a liberal. How about a conservative? BO was rated the most liberal Senator by more than a few groups. Who cares about their spouses. They are not important. No one voted for them.

I agree it is not a free ride for politicians. They should not get all of the perks that they do. They work for the taxpayers.

Kevin, if I didn't read the news or make independent, informed decisions, your post would make much more sense. However, Obama earned my vote because of reasons you do not describe.

With his message, his intelligence, his instincts, his demeanor, his patriotism, his humility, I would vote for him whether he appeared as an albino, a fat guy with tattoos, a guy with no limbs, a guy with a third ear, etc.

He won and lost about the same number of votes because of his skin color.  Therefore, it is irrelevant.  Why do you have such an obsession with what this guy looks like?

He is obviously not intelligent enough to be able to look at a sonogram and realize that the baby moving around is a life.

"My point is that libs use emotion in their decision making." You might be different, but most conservatives that I know are more interested in NASCAR on Sunday than church or Meet the Press, Face the Nation, etc. Using your logic, we could say that "libs" use intelligence in their decision making, while "cons" use their... I don't what someone would use to vote for a ticket with Palin.

Where does one (link please, Ann Marie) go to find out politicians IQ?  I would love to check it out.

I do not care what he looks like.

He has patriotism? When did that occur? Most folks who like a team wear the team colors. The flag, Jay. The Pledge of Allegaince. The US is our team Jay.

Kevin - I wrote a similar post about voting on emotion instead of facts so I totally get what you are saying.

@ Jay - Patriotism???????????????????????!!!!!!!

I think Jay makes a fabulous point in that NO ONE should be voted for, or not, because of his skin color.  I do think a candidate's friends and associates should be considered when making such a decision, however.

This post is a prime example of why the republicans failed to secure the nation's highest office.  Need anyone comment further?

Kevin - keep painting with such a broad brush and maybe someday you'll just generalize yourself out of any meaningful political discussion. I assure you for a guy to graduate at the top of his class from the Harvard Law School required that his IQ was pretty darn hi, never mind being elected the president of the Law Review.

On the other hand, you have a very patriotic McCain (graduated Summa Cum Bottom), who routinely underperformed in any position he's ever occupied (i.e. lousy pilot, crappy campaign 3 times, etc., crappy marriages, both...)

"Most folks who like a team wear the team colors. The flag, Jay." In 2000, Bush wore the colors of the flag of Estonia and in 1981, Reagan wore the colors of the Nazi SS Army. You can see a couple of pictures in comments I made on another blog.

Kevin - So let me get this straight, if I voted for Barack Obama... I am a "lib"?  And if I am a "lib" then I voted on emotion?  And that emotion may even be childish?  I'm just throwing this out there but what if I simply thought he was the best man for the job?  And I could be wrong on that... give the guy the chance to prove my vote wrong.  I'm more centric than you may think.

I commend the fact that you brought up Emotional IQ, as that isn't something typically talked about.  In my book, which I haven't quite begun to write, emotional intelligence also involves perhaps re-thinking any assertions that a group of people who voted for something you don't think is right... are not logical.

Listen man, I know the controversy thing gets attention and I'm feeding into it by even commenting.  Perhaps this post is really a reflection of how you truly feel and not to solicit a reaction from the emotionally defunct IQ's among us.  I get that, whatever the case.  I'll put it to you like this though.  If conservatism ever dies, a strong part of our nation dies.  Same goes with the other side.  Same goes for the more centric sides... in my opinion.

I'm not liking this post but I firmly believe in your right to publish it.

And you are still getting a freaking Christmas Card from this chap:-)

For the record, Inna & Jay are a bit extreme to the other end for my taste.  I guess polar extremes make this interesting... and way harder than it should be.

Jay and Inna,

You just did the same thing as Kevin, so what gives?

Jay says that since I am a conservative that all I care about is NASCAR on Sunday??  How is this even close to being true?  Patriotism???????????  Here is a reminder, how quickly you forget.

Inna says that Kevin is painting with a broad brush but not Jay?  Are you serious?

John, here's what I said "most conservatives that I know are more interested in NASCAR on Sunday than church or Meet the Press, Face the Nation, etc."

I used the word "most" - not "all" and not "John" - therefore, you are a conservative who is not like "most" conservatives that I know.

EXCUSE ME JAY!? I've never watched Nascar in my life and don't know anyone that does that actually votes! It hasn't been since I lived in Tennessee that I even heard anyone TALK about NASCAR.

Even if people do choose to watch NAscar, so what! Do you watch tv? What a waste of time! I rarely watch tv but I don't think those that do are stupid! IIIIIIIII am not that arrogant! I guess if we can say all stupid redneck republicans watch NASCAR then we can say all lazy liberals spend their day eating cheetos and watching General Hospital waiting on the welfare check? NO! These stereotypes are a PRIME example of why this country is divided right down the middle. Because the left thinks we are all stupid, greedy, inbred, gun toting morons, including your choice of president who said the same thing about us bible toting idiots. Good way to bridge the gap Obama.

WEll get off of your high horse. IF you are going to pick on Republicans at least be educated about them first.

You guys cant have it both ways. First you say Republicans are all rich, greedy jerks. Well um, how do you get rich if you are stupid? That takes intelligence. The media is the first to quote statistics that say and I quote "democrats tend to be less educated and lower income than republicans".

What does that tell you JAY???? Your own MEDIA says that dems are LESS EDUCATED and MAKE LESS MONEY!!! Those are not my stats they are the liberal media's. But dems are smarter for being less educated and lower earners? Kind of a contradiction wouldn't you say?

So, I'd rather be a gun toting, bible hugging moron by liberal definitions than an  arrogant liberal like you.

Cheri', I lived in Tennessee for 18 years, so perhaps Tennessean Republicans are the exception to the rule.

With regards to Republicans, wealth, stupidity, etc...
Let's see... George Bush might not be "stupid" but he got to be rich, a baseball team owner, governor, and president because of his dad and granddad, not strictly because of intelligence or work ethic.

John McCain might not be "stupid" but he got to be rich, got into the Naval Academy, the House and Senate because of his dad, granddad and second wife, not strictly because of intelligence or work ethic.

This quote - "democrats tend to be less educated and lower income than republicans" - needs a link to the source - specific data such as this is simply propaganda without a source.

Finally, my family and friends own enough guns for a militia and we are all Christians - so, how dare you question my personal faith and integrity.

Jason- I think you and I think very much alike, and I would like to sign up for your first book release!!

Kevin- I'm with Jason in that many of us made our decisions based on issues, not on the color of skin, or emotion so that is just a generalization. You are free to rant all you like, but you don't bring up much of an argument. Like Cheri pointed out it would be hypocritical for Obama supporters to go around and generalize all Republicans as being racist, NASCAR loving people who just cling their religion and their guns...that wouldn't be right and is simply not true. Both of my parents are born and bred South Carolina Republicans and we disagree on many issues, but we just agree to disagree.

So in the same tone, you can call Obama supporters, Liberal, Socialist, Communist or whatever, but it does not change the fact that many of us are as passionate about our issues as you are of yours, and many of us are more Center than to the left. But to anyone who is Far Right, even center will be left, so there is nothing we can do about it:)
