You have your favorite team. You have a whole bunch of fans who show up for every game. You all love to tailgate. Party time. Someone comes up with an idea to elect a tailgate club president. Everyone else decides it is a good idea. Who to elect?
First of all, get someone who will not wear the team colors. Pick the guy who is embarrassed by your teams colors and mascot. Anyone who is willing to wear the team jacket, shirt, or hat is out.
Next, make sure the fan club president has a wife (or a husband if the new leader is a woman), who has never been proud of your team. Make sure that they have vocalized this type of statement.
Third, try to find someone in your group who hangs out with fans from other teams who have purposely caused trouble at your tailgating functions. Kind of like a tailgate terrorist if you will.
Finally, make sure that the new president is into beer and food redistribution. In other words, someone who feels that the guys with all the beer should bring more of it, and expect to share it with everyone. Those who don't bring beer should not be ashamed, but should hold their head up, and willingly take from those who do. But, do not expect the president to share his (or hers).
Hopefully these tips will help. I have heard that some groups use these criteria in all matters of leadership. Results may vary.
