Blah, blah, blah

Wrong answer

Anyone who has ever owned a real busines has done it before. After paying all of the bills and the employees, there is simply no money left. The owner gets zip. Been there done that.

Any parent knows the feeling. Buy diapers, formula, school clothes, baseball uniforms, cheerleading uniforms and then pay the bills for the month. No money left over.

Real situations. Real people. Time to suck it up for a bit. But not if you are a Congress person.

Right now, as Americans are driving less, in order to save money, the gas tax revenues are down. So what do the Democrats in Congess do? They want to raise gas taxes by 10 cents a gallon. That is their answer. I am beginning to think that raising taxes or fees is their only answer. Obviously certain things in our country cost money. That is a given. But instead of thinking like a socialist, those in Congress should try thinking like a business owner or a parent. Give something up. Cut something else out of the budget. Cut the fat.

If they need help cutting the fat, I bet a whole lot of us could help them. I am starting to think that their 9% approval rating from last week is going to get wiped out very soon.

I will pay more taxes if the goverment cuts wasteful spending.  I understand the country is in trouble but they have to do their part first and most people would pay more.

It's certainly not the best time to be an incumbent, is it?  This give Obama a great play, even though McCain is the more financially responsible.  Interesting times!

KR,

First step would be to cut these high flying Salaries the Politicos all have...

Our country would save BILLIONS.....

What's really sad is that most Americans have no idea what is going on. Some don't want to know, some don't care, and our government doesn't want us to know....

Shame those in power can find ways to make up lost revenue so easily. Same thing with property taxes - raise the rates!

Someone needs to figure out something.  Hopefully there are alternatives to raising taxes.

WOW, just when gas is at an ALL TIME HIGH, they want to go and raise taxes on gasoline? Typical...

Have a great week - and thanks for sharing!

I agree. They just want more and more like an out of control teenager. They talk personal responsibility but they are not responsible in any way.

Here is a link to one of the stories about it this morning:

I am sure that the lawmakers will come up with a good reason for wanting to raise it. I just get mad because their answer for everything is higher taxes or fees.

I agree.  If you serve in Congress for 1 term your pension is 100% of your annual income for life.  I would like to start there

Kevin - first of all you could save money by not buying that cheerleading uniform. You would be doing us all a favor as well because frankly the thought of you wearing it is making me lose my appetite.

As for Congress - yes we should call; yes we shoud write; yes we should throw them out of office.

Simon,

I probably look better than you think in my cheerleading uniform.

We just called our Congressmen yesterday. His office informed us that he is for the "holiday".

The Democratic Congress is a joke. They just whine and do nothing. Where are all the fantastic changes we were promised? They are just as incompetent as The Republicans they replaced.

That's right.  Tax us into prosperity.  If only the government kept all the money and then sent us a little check for our monthly government cheese.

I guess I should have read this before posting my rant.

It would be nice to cut their salaries, or at least cap them. Unfortunately, we don't have that power since they claimed it for themselves. Perhaps an ammendment to the constitution?

Please Kevin - the visual in my head now won't go away!!!! As for Congress - my Senator was also "out for the Holiday" and when I asked "WHAT HOLIDAY?" our line suddenly went dead!

Kevin- It is almost starting to look like they don't want obama to win in Nov.  The dems cant be that stupid can they?

Sorry Simon. I got that one from my neighbor who has two girls that are cheerleaders. He and his wife were telling us how much those uniforms cost.

I think Rob sumed up how most Dems would like us to live. Although we probably won't get to buy cheese becaseu the Dems pander to the vegan community who is against eating any milk products.
