The unthinkable

I had to do the unthinkable yesterday. Heading home from meeting with a client. I had been putting it off for a few days. I just wasn't ready to make the commitment. Well, I had no choice. Darn.

I pulled into my local gas station. Parked next to the pump, I got out, card in hand. Here we go. How much is this going to cost? I slid my card in the little reader, got the OK from my bank, and then... the prices came up on the screen. I know that the sign out front tells you the prices, but I never look until the pump tells me. A dumb habit, but the way I do it.

Wow! The price went down. Is that right. I select regular at $4.15 per gallon. Did they come down? I jump back in my car to check my last receipt. Yes! The price came down from $4.19 last week. Not exactly a huge deal, but better than nothing. I'll take it.

Did the gas prices come down all over the country, or just in my area or state? I have been real busy on a big custom home lately and have not paid any attention to the news. What is going on with oil and gas right now?

I live in Sarasota Florida and have experienced no decrease in gas prices.  However, we always had gas available under $4.00.

gas really is still too cheap....if they'd stop manipulating the market and let it go we'd be fine

I have this theory - our gases prices are raised xxx amount of $$$$ until everyone is screaming 'STOP'  then they get dropped a portion of what they had gone up and everyone is tickled pink.  i.e. prices raised $1.00/next week prices come down $.25....we're thrilled even though prices are still UP $.75)

Kevin--Gas in the Twin Cities was ranging from $3.85-3.94 yesterday. It dropped on Saturday...Last week it was $3.95-3.99. I heard it was down around $4/barrel at the end of last week.

Gas in Tacoma, Wa also dropped about 5 cents. A bit of a surprise.

They should be finally dropping as the cost of oil went down by a significant amount last week.

Hey Kevin,

Theyu are down here too.  We were at $3.99 for awhile and now it is at $3.95!!  The funny thing is, it seems no one around here wanted to go over $4.  Is that strange or what?

Oil has been dropping, we will see what happens.

It seems like all of you pay less than we do here in Idaho. I actually read the news today, and it looks like the price may start dropping pretty good now.

Kevin,

Yesterday they went to $3.89!  I can't wait to see who tries to take the credit for this reduction.

Kevin - The Democrat run Congress is responsible for making it easier on the American people.

No worries.....I use less gas doing many more things virtually....check out my website for more info but my new brokerage has allowed me to better serve my clients and be more proficient in all that I do. Anyways hope you're not running around too much these days and filling up less I think over the years it's only gonna get worse!! Don't be surprised at $8 a gallon soon.

We are down to 3.59 at a few gas stations here in NJ...the prices ARE falling, and its happening pretty fast.  I guess the government is doing Something right.

I paid $3.73 a gallon down here in Sarasota Florida.  And, I know it is always cheaper in Orlando.  Maybe you should take a trip to Disney!

Kevin - prices around here have come down from a high of around $4.09 to an average of around $3.78. I paid $3.689 yesterday at Sam's. Oh, Pelosi already took the credit.

Hey Kevin,

Down to $3.55 here yesterday!!  That is over 40 cents in less than a month!  Where will I spend all the extra??

Posted by John Hersey, e-PRO Realtor (Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Homesale Realty) over 10 years ago

It's $3.54 here. It was costing me about $115 to fill up but I rarely fill up. I normally don't put more than 1/2 tank.

Cheri',

Maybe, if you did not have a BIG, GAS GUZZLING SUV you could afford to fill it up!  Sorry, I had to say it before someone else did.

The main difference is....  I am joking!!

Posted by John Hersey, e-PRO Realtor (Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Homesale Realty) over 10 years ago
