Some liberal thoughts for the day

We are going to run out of oil!

We are going to run out of water!

We are killing 5000 species per day!

At our current rate of (fill in the blank), the world will end in (fill in the blank)

Everyone hates us!

The rich keep getting richer!

Bush tells nothing but lies!

That is not fair!

IT MUST BE DEPRESSING TO BE A LIBERAL!

yes, and ignorance really IS bliss.

Ignorance of what? A bunch of falsehoods told by people with an agenda.

Kevin ~ I missed this post. You certainly point out how liberals are miserable.

Oh, and they think they are too intelligent to explain why they believe the way they believe.

I think this is a means for Kevin to pick up a quick 200.

Agenda = Seems a lot of folks have that around here, right Kevin?

Isn't that the truth.  Life isn't fair.  Get over it and do something productive with yourself.

I'll bite.

We are going to run out of oil! I don't know if you are joking, but oil will eventually run out. Maybe within the next century or so. We need some alternatives.

We are going to run out of water! With the earth being mostly water, running out won't happen. However, we have poisoned a great deal of it and getting it to some areas is a problem.

We are killing 5000 species per day! I have no idea how many species are becoming extict every day. It is rather alarming just how much destruction we can cause. You may want to spend our resources with careless abandon, assuming eternal supply. Hopefully, the people we put in positions of authority will give the matter more thought.

At our current rate of (fill in the blank), the world will end in (fill in the blank)The fear of coming armageddon, or Rapture is much more prevelant in Conservative circles than Liberal. Conservatives figure they might as well just use up everything because when Jesus rides down out of the clouds, it won't matter.

Everyone hates us! Not everybody hates us. However, if you took the time to investigate you would quickly discover our stock as a nation has taken some serious hits in the last eight years. We are viewed in a more negative light than at any other time in  living memory.

The rich keep getting richer! Look at the porportion of wealth distribution in this country. The rich are getting richer. Especially in the oil and defense business. However, it has always been that way through the dawn of civilization. It takes money to make money.

Bush tells nothing but lies! Bush does tell the truth when it suits him. His whole administration is very good and twisting the truth just enough to claim innocence when they are exposed. Remeber when he said he would fire anybody in his administration who was involved in The Valerie Palme Incident?

That is not fair! What does fair have to do with anything? Nothing is ever fair.

That is right Isreal, life is not fair. Why do liberals spend so much time trying to make it fair?

Posted by Kevin Robinson, Fractional Developer over 9 years ago

Liberals want everyone to feel good all the time. They envision a perfect world where everything is equal for everyone. It will never happen. If I work harder than the other guy, don't I deserve the benefits that come with it? Liberals don't get that part of the equation.

Posted by Israel Barden (RE/MAX Big Bear Village) over 9 years ago

Israel- liberals may envision a perfect 'future' world, conservatives think we already have one. "No improvments necessary" should be there campaign slogan. Republicans say we are all on a level playing field, with equal opportunities and equal potential. However, not everyone grows up with two loving parents to encourage them, a 120+ IQ, a great learning environment, job opportunities galore etc...

Idealism isn't the bad thing. The bad thing is glossing over actual problems in favor of ignorance.

Jennifer- I grew up poor. I had to struggle for everything I have. Nobody has ever given me anything. I know many succesful people with similar backgrounds. It sucks just as much to be a poor redneck as it does to be anything else. Where does personal responsibility come into play? I don't mind giving somebody struggling a hand up. I do mind tossing away money to people who are never going to do anything to help themselves.

Israel,

Bravo!!!!  I agree.  There are stories upon stories of broke, fatherless, noneducated people who have made it in this country.  They MADE it happen!

I agree Israel, I work hard hard hard for my money and miss out on valuable time with my kids because of the hours I put in....so I don't think it's right that I should have to support some loser who doesn't want to work.

I have a 50 year old uncle who was in special ed in school. He is bi-polar and his IQ is probably lower than average. I'd say he has the mentality of about a 14 year old. He lives with me about 4 days a week. He has a job. He walks everywhere he wants to go unless it's too far and then I drive him. He gets no govmt help whatsoever. He qualifies for govmt help, but he doesn't want  it.  He could sit and whine about how he was dealt a bad hand but he doesn't. He feels blessed. If more welfare people were like him you'd probably get rid of the national debt in under 5 years.

Cheri,

My wife has an very bad case of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Her doctor will help her get all kinds of govt money. My wife besides being very proud, was raised very liberal and can't stand that liberal mentality of getting paid by the govt. She told me that even when she gets very bad, I am not to take a dime in her name from the govt. Your uncle sounds like the same type of person. If we all stand together and refuse govt handouts, the country will get better. Did you see my blog on social security?

I don't know Kevin, my brain hasn't woken up yet. I'm still on autopilot.

Thanks for "biting", Israel, your response is cogent and gives credit to your thoughtfulness.

Jennifer has a point. Of course anyone can (and should) work hard to succeed in life, but it sure is a lot easier to do it when you're smart and have loving, affluent families to encourage you every step of the way.

Thanks, Kevin, for continually challenging AR members to stand up for their beliefs.

yes, yes, and yes. And you forgot - We're all gonna die!

Posted by Susan McQuaide (Keller Williams) over 9 years ago

We didn't all have loving, affluent families. Some of us just got up off our butts and put our brains to use rather than whining about the curve balls life threw and throws at us.
