Blah, blah, blah

Taking hold

Remember back in 2004 or 2005? I do. Then President Bush telling us that if we help transofrm Iraq into a democratic style of government, that maybe, just maybe, other citizens of Middle Eastern countries would take notice. And if enough of them took notice, maybe, just maybe, enough of those good folks would rise up and attempt to gain some form of Democracy in their countries.

Remember the response to those ideas by the mass media and the so called "educated" folks in our country? Bush in an idiot. Bush has no clue. Those people don't want democracy. Bush is a dreamer. Bush is just doing it for oil. Bush...

Yeah, we know. It is all Bush's fault.

Here we are in 2011 and, my oh my, how things have changed. All of a sudden the idea of democracy is taking off in the middle east. Besides Egypt, people in other countries are starting to get organized and take action. Every day another country gets added to the list. The people there want democracy.

You are so right. I don't follow the media and their idealoges cloked as reporters. Iran may be next,

It appears that Bahrain is the latest country to enter the fray. The problem is, does a current democratic approach lead to more Iran's with the Muslim Brotherhood being prominent.

When W said it it was NATION BUILDING not DEMOCRACY BUILDING * that is the difference.  Barry needs to support IRAN's citizens' efforts NOW

Kevin, I'm not sure that the people in these nations want democracy or just plain "change". The're tired of the way things are being run--no political freedom, no jobs, etc.

Sigh...drawing false conclusions from historic events is quickly becoming a cottage industry for 'the right.'

Karl -I bet it is Bush's fault eh?

The next couple of years may be kinda rough for you.

Seriously.  You think that invasion of Iraq and the pseudo-democracy that was imposed by the US is the driving force behind the upheavals in the middle east...really?
