In an effort to bridge a few gaps and possibly do a little team building I offer a little contest. This is a contest that I drew up years ago in order to get my employees a bit healthier, and the thing has evolved into a fairly big fundraising shenanigan within my little circle of friends and associates. I thought that I would present it here on AR as a way to foster a little healthy competition between the liberals and conservatives. Kind of a sporting contest, if you will.
We all (well most of us) gain a few pounds over the holiday season. We would all like to stop gaining and probably lose a few, but we have no incentive. What if we had a little incentive and helped our favorite charity along the way? Following is my idea.
We divide into 2 teams. Each person has a choice of competitions, either lose pounds or inches. If a person chooses inches, they measure their waist. We weigh in or measure on October 17th. Each person decides how many pounds or inches they want to lose. At that time, they pledge either $5 per pound or 5 pounds of food per inch. On December 20th, we all weigh or measure again. for each pound lost we get back $5 and for each inch lost we get back 5 pounds of food. In reality, we do not actually get it back, but we just do not donate it to our favorite charity.
Everyone must decide publicly, on this blog, how much they intend to lose, in inches or pounds. Then we pledge our money or food. After that we all start losing. On the second weigh-in, we do some simple calculations, our goal minus what we actually lost, and then figure what we get to donate. Simple.
Everyone is on the honor system. No cheating. It is for charity after all. You do not have to post your weight or size publicly if you choose not to, but you do have to post your goal and results.
Conservatives versus liberals. Who will lose the most? Who will win?
