Blah, blah, blah

Lets try

Dear Libs on AR,

You just spent 8 years bashing a republican President. You called him everything but his proper title. You dogged on everything that he did. Now you have audacity to tell me and my gang that if we come down on the new President's ideas, that we are being racist. Not exactly logical type thinking. When you did it, it was idealogy. When we do it, it is racist.

I have a proposal. Lets try to come together. Lets make an attempt to think positive and be a cohesive unit. I am being serious on this by the way. Hear me out. Here goes:

I, and hopefully other conservatives on here will list something positive about President Obama. No tongue in cheek or smart alek stuff, I mean real positive attributes about the man. You liberal minded folks can do the same with President Bush. Give us a list of something that he did that you agreed with or kinds liked.

Last week there was a news story that President Obama was trying to get American's to put more into their retirement accounts. His whole point was that we should rely less on social security and more on our own initiative as we plan for our future. Some economists felt that an increased rate of saving by Americans would slow down the recession recovery, but that the increase daving would, in fact, be a good thing overall. Anyone who reads my blogs knows that I think SS is a joke and should be disbanded. I like rugged individualism in place of counting on the govt.

This is a great exercise to involve the other side into doing something positive together.  It may not work, but I think he's good with his daughters.

I'll Play !

Three for Bush:

1. STOP PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION

2. Killed the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty

3. Signed two income tax cuts, one of which was the largest dollar-value tax cut in world history.

Now be fair.

I hope this doesn't come off as sounding tongue-in-cheek...but at least he expressed disdain against Kanye West for his behavior at the VMA. That's the best my limited political knowledge can produce. :)

Leilani

P.S. Like any other family, we as outsiders will probably NEVER know how a man really is towards his daughters and/or wife...that's a family's best-kept secret.

Well he is good looking and has a charismatic personality.  I give him those 2 attributes.

I used to think he was well spoken until after he got elected and he started saying things like healthcare will get run like the post office, people speak the Austrian language, and similar gems like that.  Now I'm thinking he isn't much better of a speaker than W was.  As for his leadership skills, very disappointing so far but again we knew that he had minimal experience either in business or in politics when America elected him.

Kevin,

I went all the way ack to Richard Nixon(the first prersident I was old enough to know anything about and can list at least one positive attribute about all of them but since I read this last night I really can't come up with anything positive to say about President Obama

#1 Linda Mae, Thank you for participating  :)

#2 Kevin, I spent a serious amount of time thinking about this some more... I appreciated him saying that Kanye West was a Jackass...  some people have said that it was not PRESIDENTIAL to say something like that.  But I think that it showed how he really felt and I appreciated it whether he should have said it or not.  AND, I admire his love for his wife and children.

Obama loves his girls and his wife.

    Linda Mae,

Here is the challenge I have with your list of Obama's accomplishments. Many of them may sound nice but the unintended consequences can be devastating. We could say the same things about a list of Bush accomplishments I would have written 2 yrs. ago.

I think where we can come together is that many on both sides of the aisle have been corrupted by special interest. I happen to believe that the people Obama is putting into positions of great power do not have the best interest of America in their mind. Because of that I believe we must clean house in 2010. There are some republicans that I would like to see go as well.

Linda Mae, one interesting positive you said about Bush was his band on partial birth abortion.

How can you support a Man who has the most far left position on this. I am just curious I am not playing mean, I just don't get that.

The puppy was good I guess but why did it take longer to do that than the time he wants to take to rush other things through?  Also, I too agree with him on Kanye West.  I love when people don't know they are being recorded.

Sorry Kevin, nothing else here, really.  I'll keep trying.

    Alice,

My intent was never to support Obama. More simply I have always attempted to show there is two sides to every story. To bring back into balance our emotions that tend to get away from us.

When I read a one sided post I did my research and wrote an opposing point of view. Sometimes people take what they read as gospel because they are to busy or to lazy to research things for themselves and I find that so many here (ON BOTH SIDES) write with such conviction that an un-educated person simply thinks what they said was the truth and nothing but the truth.

Obama was NEVER my first, second or even 100th choice but  he was the only choice given me against McCain/Palin. I "personally" voted for MANY more issues than JUST abortion. PLEASE I have not wandered back after a year to return to the names I have been called because of my decision. Think what you will. I will stand before God alone. If you think that decision is going to send me to hell, fall on your knees and pray for me. Don't judge me.

Yes, the puppy was nice but can you honestly look at that list and not find one thing that just might be helping someone.

I read all of Bush's long list and I found a lot of things. BUT remember I voted for Bush.

Posted by Linda Mae Croom, (928) 768-3040 over 8 years ago

Kevin,  Is this an exercise in torture? He produced the most successful get out to vote initiative.  He raised more money than any other candidate in history.  He utilized the media to harness voters.

Has anyone seen the puppy lately?

Oh, by the way Alice, about your statement"

I happen to believe that the people Obama is putting into positions of great power do not have the best interest of America in their mind."

I think this hold true for most every Presidency, at least my life time, or we wouldn't be in this mess.

Posted by Linda Mae Croom, (928) 768-3040 over 8 years ago

Alice, I agree with the unintended consequences.  I'm not going to point at the most controversial. The Credit Card Bill of rights is a joke.

Now the credit card companies are reducing the available credit to be exactly the balance due.  When interest charges are posted the card goes over limit and the card holder is dinged an over limit fee.

When the available credit is reduced so is the card holders FICO score.  When the card holder is hit with an over limit fee it is reported to the credit bureau.

The Credit card companies are now charging 30% interest on all NEW charges.  How did such a large loop hole happen?  Maybe someone did not read the bill.

    Linda Mae,

Please know that I am not judging. I have come to be so passionate about politics and especially Obama because many that I know, love and respect voted for him. Some of them are devote Catholics and it just does not add up to me. It has challenged me to do more research and shine the light on much corruption in the religion and faith that I dearly love.

So I do not ask to judge I ask to understand. I believe many have been decieved by Obama and the progressive movement.

I am working on a post to discuss this very issue and it is not an easy one to write. I will let you know when I get it done.

Linda Mae I want to thank you for taking this debate to a place we can all learn from.

Every Saint is a sinner with a past, and We are ALL Sinners!!!
