Blah, blah, blah

Do as I say not as I do

I am seeing lots of blogs about next weeks big school kid speech by President Obama. Like everything in our country, there are two sides to the blogs. While one side is ra-ra the President, the other feels that he is off base in speaking to the countries school children. Some of the blogs are getting very heated, and like usual, the comments get more and more off of the subject as the days go on.

Back when we had our last President, he had a name. My wife and I taught our kids to call him President Bush. Right now, we refer to the leader of our country as President Obama. It is how I was raised, and I am sure how many others were raised. Anyone who has read my blog or knows me realizes that I believe Mr. Obama is very off base in his motives, and completely unqualified to run a county dog catching agency. With that being said, I still use either President or Mister whenever referring to him.

As I read all of the blogs about next weeks speech to the schoolkids I keep seeing the liberals of AR telling the conservatives that we need to show reverence and respect to our President. They say that he is the President, after all. I agree. But where were these liberal minded folks when President Bush was in office. I went back and read some of their blogs from last year. In particular I read 4 peoples blogs. These are the 4 who like to scream at us from the rooftops that we need to have our kids listen next week, if for no other reason than the President is talking. We need to stop referring to him in derogatory terms. Ha Ha Ha. Very funny.

The 4 of them called our last President all kinds of nasty terms last fall. No Mister or President was evident in their blogs. Where was their respect? Did they disagree with the man on his actions or his words or just the fact that he was a conservative (not conservative enough for me)? Did they tell their kids that he was a mean jerky SOB, or did they explain that he was the President, elected by the voters, and even though his politics are not the same as ours, this is why we disagree with him. We should always respect the office, even if we do not respect the person in that office.

Maybe the libs who proclaim that all of those who do not want their kids to listen are Nazi's and rednecks, etc, should re-read their own blogs from last year. Then they will understand.

An old newspaper term. Above the fold. You always put the big stories, or at least the ones that you want to get noticed, above the fold in the newspaper. They call it above the fold. Even here on AR we have an above the fold. Take a look at your… more
