We have all seen it before. The kid is just not behaving and the mother yells for the 6th time "stop or you will be in trouble". Of course the tyke continues to keep doing whatever it is that is irking the mother. In a minute the mother will have to yell for the 7th time. A good old fashioned swat on the rear end and the behavior will stop.
In our current times, a spanking is probably percieved by a lot of people to be violent and a non-thinking persons way to solve a problem. Better to consider all of the facts, come up with a rational analysis of the situation, and then take a less caustic approach. Maybe sit down for a little soul searching and some hugging.
In the case of North Korea, which type of parent do we want to be? Sec State Hillary warned North Korea that there may be "consequences" to their actions. Kind of like the mother in my example above, Hillary is likely to really elicit some fear form the folks in charge over there.
After we have all sat on our hands for a bit, talked it over at our cocktail parties, stroked our beards like an idiotic college professor considering Thoreau, maybe we should do more than talk tough this time.
Spankings do work.
