Four distinct seasons. That is what we have here in southern Idaho. Currently we are living through spring. Spring equals rain, and some snow, but mostly wind. Wind that does not let up for weeks at a time. I have had a few amateur meteorologists try to explain it to me, but the reasons do not matter to me. Sometimes it does get old but we try to keep a positive outlook on our wind.
Our area has been rated to have some of the cleanest air in the country. I believe that the wind is one of the main reasons for this. The pollutants have no chance to stick around- at least in the spring. Many residents have installed wind generators on their property. With these we can use the wind to help offset our electrical bills. Some residents consider the wind a way to keep our population down. In recent years, with our population growing so quickly, some locals have grown tired of too much growth. But the wind, and our cold winters, chase a lot of so called newbies back to where they came from.
No matter how much good there is in our wind, I for one am ready for summer to arrive. The prospect of hot days and warm nights, coupled with still air, looks real nice at the moment.
It is another very windy day in southern Idaho.
